In Celebration of

Rosemary Josephine (neé Indovina) DiFlorio

April 25, 1935 -  March 21, 2023

On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, in her 88th year, Rosemary passed on from this life and entered the Gates of Heaven.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of 67 years, Norman, daughters Anita (Rod) and Lisa, and son Joseph (Patricia). She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Aiden, Briar Rose, Madison, and Ryan (Amber), as well as her brother Ross (Mary) along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She is predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Mary Indovina, sisters Anna, Frances, Gloria and Margaret, brothers Lawrence, Joseph, and grandson Kyle.

Rosemary began her life at her family’s home above their business at High Park Fruit Market. She attended St. Cecilia's Elementary School, and later, Western Tech High School. After high school she worked in various administrative positions and eventually became a long distance telephone operator at Bell Canada, a job she was immensely proud of.

Her love of music and dancing led her to meet the love of her life, Norman at the St. Paul’s weekly church dance. They were married 11 months later and have been together for 67 years.

Rosemary was passionate about many things. First and foremost her family, followed by her love of opera, and her love of sports, especially baseball and hockey. She was a trained Soprano, and shared that knowledge as a singing teacher. She was an artist, poet and songwriter, who played the accordion and piano by ear, providing the entertainment for many family gatherings. Her robust sense of humour brought laughter to many occasions and she was known to pull a good prank or two.

A born entrepreneur, she independently opened a sports card and comic store, Combinations Sports Cards, growing it to a successful business until her retirement. Part of that success came from two very special employees, Ashraf and Ehab Tahir, for whom she had a great fondness and respect. Some of her young customers still remember her today as adults.

We would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Stevenson Memorial Hospital and Matthews House Hospice in Alliston, along with numerous caregivers through Home and Community Care Support Services. We give our deepest gratitude in particular to her PSW Mary and Nurse Michelle for their incredible care and kindness. Also, to the numerous doctors and specialists that have provided care for her over the years.

Friends may visit at Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga (Hwy #10 @QEW) on Sunday, March 26, 2023 from 12:00-8:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 921 Flagship Drive, Mississauga on Monday, March 27, 2023 at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, 6933 Tomken Road, Mississauga (south of Derry Road) at approximately 12:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rosemary can be made to Matthews House Hospice, Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation, or the Kidney Foundation.

Uncle Norm, Anita, Lisa and Joe. I am so sorry. My childhood was filled with wonderful memories of laughter and great times thanks to Aunt Ro. She was fun, a great storyteller and passionate about everything. You all gave her so much love and care. She will always be with you. ❤️

My Deepest Sympathies Uncle Norm, Anita, Lisa, Joe & Families,

It was just yesterday. The singing, the dancing, Auntie Ro playing the accordion, Dad on the piano, Uncle Mario on guitar! Better still - Rosemary singing (a rare treat for me). Oh so many memories of music and laughter…a very much needed distraction for this 11-12 year old (and well beyond) from a broken home. How did you know? How did you always seem to know a lot of things?

All my Love and Prayers ❤️🙏 xoxo Laura- or as you used to call me, Laurelei :-)

Aunt Ro had such a vibrant personality, incredible sense of humor, passions, and strength, but I think it's her 'ZEST" and sense of humor that will stick with me forever. She was afraid of nobody, didn't matter how big they were, she wasn't one to back down when she firmly believed in something. I have SO many GOOD memories of cruising in her T Bird...going up and down lakeshore blvd with the top down and the music blaring, and there was always a trip to the A & W along the journey, (the old style, where they would bring the food on a tray and hang off your window). There are SO many memories and it's hard to put this into words, but her spark and love will live in our hearts forever, and her enormous presence will be greatly missed.

Dear Anita, Lisa, Joe and Uncle Norm. Please accept our deepest condolences. I will always remember my Aunt Ro as so lively and entertaining, with a great natural sense of humor. A flair for the dramatic too. I have very fond childhood memories of Aunt Ro teaching me how to sing properly! Love from Mary, Jean-Pierre, Elena and Jonathan Laurin
