In Celebration of

Rosaria Pappano

May 1, 1929 -  September 30, 2017

Died peacefully on September 30, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto. Devoted wife of the late Michele. Beloved mother of Maria (Frank), Lucy (Robert), Dominic and Gina (Rupert). Loving Grandma/Nonna to her eleven grandchildren who range in age from forty to one: Onofrio (Niki), Francesca, Domina (Giovanni), Michael, Mikaela, Stefan, Michael, Ali, Cate, Antonia and Dominic. Great-Grandmother to Maria Lorella, Francesco, Vittoria, Giulietta, Francesco and Costantino. Sister to Maria Filippa and the late Lucia. Sister-in-law to Marietta, Rosa, Lucia and the late Filippo and Rocco.

Rosaria was born on May 1, 1929 in Roseto Valfortore, Italy. She grew up in rural Italy of the 1930s with little means but surrounded by a large loving family and many friends. After the death of her father in her early years, Rosaria, her mother and sisters continued to work on their farm with the help of their uncles and others. In 1954, speaking no English, she travelled alone to Toronto to reunite with and marry her fiancé, Michele. She worked hard in factories all her life while fulfilling the many duties of a caring wife and mother of four. Her devotion to her family, fellow Rosetans, Italian culture and Catholic faith never waned. Rosaria’s life was a testament to the virtues of love of family and friends, piety, industry and tenacity.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N. of Q.E.W) on Tuesday and Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church, 61 Jutland Road on Thursday October 5, 2017 at 10 a.m. Donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Rosaria’s name. Nonna, these last few days have been tough, as a big part of me was not ready for you to go. Even though I can no longer call you, hug you, listen to your stories, I will never forget all that you did for me. You were a very special grandmother, and I am happy you have joined Grandpa in heaven today on his 90th birthday. As his legacy and yours lives on, we will always love you. A Dio.
