In Celebration of

Rosaria Nasato (née Castagnella)

January 21, 1948 -  September 12, 2023

Passed away at home, after a long battle with kidney failure (dialysis), on September 12, 2023, at the age of 75. Beloved wife of Alberto for over 50 years. Loving mother of Rosanna, Emanuele (Elaine), and the late Luca (2000). Cherished Nonna of Angelica and Emma. Dear sister of Giuseppe and the late Rocco.

She was born in Reggio Calabria, Italy, and immigrated to Syracuse, NY in her late teens where she worked hard to learn English and became a hairdresser. She then moved to Mississauga, ON after marrying Alberto and started their family. She was a compassionate, selfless woman; always putting others before herself. Her family was always her priority. Her Catholic faith was a big part of who she was and how she lived her life. Her faith has been a beautiful example for her family to follow. She was a pillar of strength and endurance while throwing humour into the mix, even to her last day. She loved her flower garden; her green thumb helped others cultivate their own beautiful gardens. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, who was grateful for all she had and all she could do.

We want to thank all of the wonderful nurses at the Dialysis Unit 2 at Credit Valley Hospital for all they have done for Rosaria over the past eight years.

She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She will never be lost to memory or love.

Friends may call at the Turner and Porter Neweduk- Erin Mills Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street West, Mississauga on Monday, September 18th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Christopher’s Roman Catholic Church, 1171 Clarkson Road N, on Tuesday, September 19th at 11 a.m. Interment Springcreek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rosaria’s memory may be made to Diabetes Canada or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
