In Celebration of

Rosa Vila

February 12, 1948 -  August 25, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Rosa Xavier Vila on August 25, 2025, at age 77 in her home. Rosa is predeceased by her husband Dinis Vila (1987).

Rosa will be remembered for her big heart, her generosity, and her sense of humour. Her house was always a place of welcome for all. She extended her hand to all who were in need, and her heart always had more to give. Her humour was quick, clever and full of warmth. Whether it was through a playful tease, a story from her past, or one of her quick one-liners, Rosa had a way to effortlessly make you laugh, even in hard times.

Her resilience is inspiring. After the death of her husband, Rosa turned to religion and found comfort in God. Her faith is what helped her to raise her four kids on her own at a young age. Despite her trials of faith, Rosa persevered and still demonstrated to us that no matter what, finding forgiveness and love from God will bring peace to your life. She taught us that resilience isn’t just about surviving, but living with love, forgiveness, and gratitude for each day we are given.

In her lifetime, Rosa was devoted to her family and her faith. As a sibling, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Rosa spent her life surrounded by her family and friends. She is survived by her four children Paul, Jerry, Valerie, and Jason.

Mãe, avó you will be missed, never forgotten, and always in our hearts. Forever and always our Queen. We love you.

My dear Senhora Rosa you called me a week before I left to go to Sao Miguel
to tell me about your diagnosis. We cried together and I told you I would pray for you at Senhor Santo Cristo church. I even bought you a rorsary hoping to come back and visit with you and give you the rosary.
You and my mother Senhora Margarida were the best of friends I pray that you both are together with one another in the glory of our Lord.
My condolences to the entire family and may her soul be resting in eternal peace🙏🏻

Rosa was such a big influence on my childhood. She was always happy and always made me laugh big time. Living down the street from her was a privileged, a second home that I was always welcomed at. The memories we shared will stay with me forever, and I'll always carry the joy and laughter she brought to my life, and I will never forget that she was one of few people that checked in with me always after my mother died. She always made me feel like she cared and wanted to know that I was okay.
I will miss those random "forehead" Facebook video chats LMAO!

I am truly so grateful to have known her and to have so many cherished moments to hold on to. Rosa will live on in my heart and memories forever.

Paul, Jerry, Val and Jason my deepest condolences to the entire family.
May your beautiful and amazing Mae RIP. God bless you all. Love Nancy XOXO
