In Celebration of

Ronald Victor Hembruff

February 7, 1939 -  September 17, 2022

Born in Matheson Ontario, he lived many years in Southern Ontario but remained a Northerner at heart.
The values that were ingrained in Ron by his parents Victor and Margaret (Gates), shone through for all those who knew him. His sense of service for the community was a reflection of the kindness and generosity of his parents along with his uncle Floyd and aunt Betty. They were all active members of numerous service clubs such as Rotary, Kiwanis and Lions as well as lifetime supporters of Bingham Memorial Hospital in Matheson.

Ron had so many wonderful, kind and best friends from his curling world, family circle, neighbours, Ryerson graduates, business associates and people he had just met along the way.

Loving husband, best friend and curling buddy of Margaret (Bennett). Proud father of Michael and his lovely wife Vincenza. Adoring grandfather to Deanna and Andrew.

He leaves behind his sister Korinne, and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. His extended family included nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews from both his and Margaret’s sides. Ron was so proud of all his family and loved watching them grow up to become such beautiful adults.

When you remember him please smile, laugh and enjoy a beverage (beer preferred).

During his three years of medical care we were so grateful for the professional, kind, and compassionate care he received from Dr. Blaise Clarkson and the staff of the three hospitals of Michael Garron, Sunnybrook and Princess Margaret.

Should you wish to make a donation in Ron’s name our first request is a charity of your choice.
Our next suggestion is either of the three hospitals noted above plus Bingham Memorial Hospital of his hometown.

Ron, a super person. I’ve curled with Ron and against him at Dixie and in bonspiels; always a gentleman and a keen curler. He’d tell stories of driving the pro curlers around Toronto or assisting with ice preparations. Recall Ron organizing the Past President’s Bonspiel at Dixie.; fun spiel! Last winter when Marg was off to Scotland, Ron headed north one weekend to Timmins, cutting ice blocks out of the lake. I also remember Ron barbecuing pork tenderloin in the backyard during the summer for social gatherings; great host.

You’ll be missed.
Condolences to Marg and family.
