Ron passed away peacefully, at Dorothy Ley Hospice, surrounded by his wife of 55 years and two children.
Ron was born in Woodstock, Ontario, in 1940, to Walker and Violet Simpson. He was raised in Burnaby, B.C.and studied Chemical Engineering at UBC. After graduation, he worked briefly in Hamilton, Ontario, before pursuing his MBA at the University of Western Ontario. His first and last job after graduation was with Domglas Inc. where he rose to become President. He and Pat built a happy and adventure filled life in Montreal and Toronto while raising their children.
Ron is predeceased by his sister Brenda, and his parents. He is survived by his brother, Wayne, his wife, Pat, his son Matthew (Sue), his daughter Erin (Aaron), and his grandchildren Chloe, Evan and Noah as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ron’s happiest days were spent with his family and his Labrador Retriever in and around the family vacation home in Warren, Vermont; lounging by pools and oceans on his extensive travels throughout the world with his family, and, later, alone with Pat; and reading the paper in his beautiful backyard garden. As a father and husband, Ron was a rock: steady, calm and confident, no matter the circumstance. He loved playing cards and using card-player lingo; dancing to live music with elbows up; driving fast on windy mountain roads; and watching baseball. He was a Jays fan from opening day in ’77 to his dying day. In his final years, he delighted in salty language, correcting people’s grammar, and reading the acronyms on people’s shirts.
