Roman Borecky's soul left this earth suddenly on Thursday September 25th. Although he was blessed with a strong zest for life, his heart could not keep beating after many years of congestive heart failure. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Eugenia (Sokolowska), daughters Irene, Leslie, and Luba O'Brien (Nicholas), and great grand children Jhalen and Alexis. He was preceded in death by his cherished grand daughter Shona (2022).
Roman was born on August 6, 1928 in Ternopil Ukraine. He found himself in a displaced persons camp in Germany as a young teen, and sailed to Canada. He married, raised a family, and worked for over four decades for Simpsons/HBC.
Roman was a devout Ukrainian Catholic, spending much of his time in church. He was proud to sing in the church choir. In his last few years he religiously watched services on YouTube from both Toronto and Ukraine. He also devoted his time to watching soccer and hockey, but any sport would entertain him. He had a wonderful sense of humor, telling stories in his special way, and enjoyed funny animal videos. He will be truly missed and always remember by all who loved him.
