Roger was born in Denver and received an A.B. and Ph.D. at Harvard as well as a J.D. at University of Chicago Law School. In 1968 he came to Canada to teach Medieval History at Carleton University and then went on to be a Senior Fellow at the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies at the University of Toronto. He will be greatly missed by all, but especially by his devoted wife, Luba.
