In Celebration of

Robert Joseph Swiston

February 23, 1941 -  December 18, 2017

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Joseph "Bob" Swiston announces his passing after a valiant and courageous struggle with severe quadriplegia, on December 18, 2017, at the age of 76.

Beloved husband of Ruth Regester of 34 years. Dearly remembered by his twin brother Frank (Karen) Swiston, his nephew David (Effy) Swiston (Elizabeth) and by his niece Susan (Peter) Coates (Serena, Zachary).

Bob was a proud, retired employee of Consumers' Gas/Enbridge. He always took great pride and excelled in his work and so enjoyed his many happy and fulfilling years there. Bob also took great pride in his skilled hobby of woodworking as well as garden railroading.

Bob will be deeply missed by family and friends. We will treasure our memories of his feisty determination, tremendous courage and ever-present sense of humour.

The family acknowledges the wonderful care Bob received from VON, Nucleus Independent Living and Care Partners allowing him to remain at home during his declining years.

A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held on October 14, 2018, in lieu of a funeral. Please visit www.turnerporter.ca/memorials for time and location, as well as to post your favourite memories and pictures.

Bob will be missed; one can’t help it. Bob was one of the strongest characters I have ever met …. try winning an argument. Such tenacity; however Bob always made sure we finished our neighbourly visits with a roaring belly laugh.

I watched Bob’s final years focus on the incredible grit Bob demonstrated, to win as much time as he could from his devastating illness. He won more years than any other man I believe possible.

During Bob’s healthy years, he always seemed to enjoy his life fully, especially when he could help out a neighbour. I was a thankful recipient of many of Bob’s helping hands. However, I must say Bob wasn’t shy when he needed one.

It was always a memorable day spending some time with Bob. May God bless your soul Bob.

Ruth it goes without saying the incredible resiliency you held throughout those tough years supporting Bob. Two remarkable people.
