In Celebration of

Robert James Craigs

August 4, 1949 -  July 29, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert James Craigs who died on July 29, 2025 at the age of 75 in Oakville, Ontario. He was born on August 4, 1949 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He was the child of Frances Ellen Craigs (nee Toole) and Gerald James Craigs. He was married to Donna Ann Craigs (nee Kennie) on December 22, 1973. They had three children, Aaron James, Jeremiah Robert, and Sarabeth Anne. He is survived by his wife Donna, children Jeremiah (Karen Ebden Craigs) and Sarabeth (Dwayne Harmer), sisters Shirley, Melodie (James Murphy), and Mary (Scott Chase), and brother Gary. He was predeceased by infant son Aaron James, mother Frances, father Gerald, infant sister Beverly Anne Craigs, and brother-in-law Murray Bailey. Robert graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a degree in Survey and Mapping. He later had a career in security working at Paragon and Commissionaires. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and the Trafalgar Chess Club.

Robert had a keen interest in keeping up with science and space related news, and most of all loved a good joke. He also loved a BAD joke and he was fond of what he called jokes for “Groooan Ups.” He especially loved a pun, as those of you who may have received a birthday card from him likely know.

Visitation will be held on August 8 at 10:00AM at Neweduk Chapel Erin Mills (Turner & Porter) in Mississauga. Funeral service will follow at 11:00AM. Officiant Rev. Ken Davis. Interment will follow at People's Cemetery, Summerside, PEI, at a later date.

Robert had a deep love for his family, his friends and his community. Robert requested we support pastors-in-training in developing countries, so in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Langham Partnership Canada or Faith Baptist Church Oakville.

Ever since the Oakville Seniors Drop-in Chess Club moved to the Trafalgar Park Community Centre, Bob became our most regular, devoted and dedicated member. Win, lose or draw, Bob’s enthusiasm for the game and commitment to our group’s activities including youth nights over the years was exemplary.
He was such a fine gentleman, great sport and friend.
Monday afternoons in the library at Trafalgar Park CC will not be the same going forward without Bob . We are going to miss him a whole lot.
Our most heartfelt sympathies go out to all of Bob’s family members and closest friends.
Sincerely, Tony Tommasone and the Trafalgar Park CC Seniors Drop-in Chess Club.
