Gone too soon at the age of 54, it is with great sadness that we share the devastating and heartbreaking news about the passing of our loved son, brother and Ujo (uncle), Robert Herceg.
Robert led a full and adventurous life that we are immensely proud of. His passion for the outdoors was nothing less than inspirational. His love for cycling was his greatest passion, and was always striving to become the best version of himself.
Alberta held a special place in his heart, being surrounded by its rich beauty of nature, fulfilling his desire to embrace his love for the outdoors and outdoor activities. Not only was Robert very proud of his cycling accomplishments, he was also overjoyed with the achievements of the Deadgoat Racing team members.
Robert’s ability to master skills was nothing less than perfect, which was reflected in his work and lifestyle. His crazy guitar playing skills were carried over to those who seeked his mentorship to teach them to play. His cooking skills enhanced with long chats with mama on traditional Croatian dishes, daring to level up with added ingredients where his taste-testers proudly approved. His artistic workmanship has left an imprint behind him for many to cherish for years to come from St Andrews Church in Etobicoke (ON) to the Fairmont Chateau in Lake Louise (AB) and all far and in between. In fact, the job he landed at the Fairmont Chateau was the pivotal point where Robert decided to make Alberta his home. His mosaic masterpiece is displayed for many around the world to admire.
Robert’s caring and compassionate heart never turned a blind eye to those in need. He extended a helping hand or ear to anyone who may have needed it. Paying It Forward was one of this amazing attributes.
Robert’s love for his family was unwavering. His dedicated phone-calls that would last for hours checking in with the lastest updates, playing games, playing the lasted music and world hot topics for a good debate (with his mama). He was always a proud son, big brother, and ujo. His ability to be like one of the kids is what his nephew and nieces cherished about him, and his sense of humour was a magnet to many.
Robert is now welcomed by his tata, Stjepan, and leaves behind his mama, Milka, seke Marijana and Maggie, brother-in-law, Damir, nephew Marko (Iva), nieces Matea (Mateo) and Katarina, and his fur-brother Dexter (aka Sunka).
Robert also leaves behind many aunts and uncles, cousins and friends from across the globe. He will be remembered for his confident, tall and fit presence, strong intellect, warm heart, rich vocabulary, beautiful smile and sense of style. His memory will surly live on in many for years to come.
Where we seek our comfort is that you are with tata and deda until we meet again.
Soar high, Rob!
Rest in love and peace.
In respect to Rob’s love of nature; flowers are welcomed.
