In Celebration of

Robert "Bob" Huff

April 22, 1937 -  December 14, 2018

On Friday December 14, 2018, at the Oakville Trafalgar Hospital, Robert (Bob) Huff passed away peacefully at the age of 81. He was born in Toronto on April 22, 1937, to parents Richard and Jean Huff (nee Pither). Robert went to Mount Dennis Public school, where he loved to play soccer. He also attended York Memorial High school. As a young man Robert coached many hockey players; some who went on to the NHL. He loved the game and was the recipient of the 1964 George Chamandy Memorial Trophy, which is the highest award presented by the GTHL and recognizes an individual’s long-standing commitment to hockey in the Greater Toronto Area. Robert made himself famous in the meat industry, starting at the age of 15 delivering door to door for Whitefield Meat Packers on his bicycle, which he started with his brother Jim. He spent his last 25 years at CANAM Meats, where he helped to build a highly successful company. Robert established lifelong relationships during his career, and his love for his work was evident. Even after retiring, he continued to visit customers every Friday, picking up cheques, and, most importantly, maintaining connections. Robert always had a smile on his face and a quick wit that brought laughter to those around him. He was a constant for his family. He loved watching his grandsons play hockey and his granddaughters figure skate. Robert was a family man; a pillar for his wife, Margann (nee Arnott), and adored by his children, Rob (Marsha), Danielle Rutledge (Kevin), Kelley Caston (Dave), and grandchildren, Paige and Tyler Rutledge, Taylor and Cameron Huff, and Ashley Caston. Dear brother to Walter (Helen), and late brothers Jim (Barbara) and Terry (Rosanne), and brother-in-law Jim Arnott. Robert was admired and cherished by extended family and friends. His passing represents a devastating loss, and he will be dearly missed.
