In Celebration of

Richard Frederick (Dick) Gerber

July 15, 1932 -  June 11, 2021

It is with sadness that the family of Richard Gerber announce his passing on June 11, 2021, at the age of 88.
Beloved husband to Patricia. Loving father of Diane (David), Steven (Cheryl), and Karen (Brent). Cherished grandfather to Erin, Evan, Sara, Benjamin, and Heather.

Dick was born in Waterloo, Ontario, and raised in St. Catharines, Ontario with his two younger brothers, Harry and Douglas. He proudly served in the Royal Canadian Navy where he met his loving wife of 62 years, Patricia. They married in 1959 and together raised their children in their home of 54 years in Welland, Ontario. He worked for more than 30 years as an electrician and foreman at Atlas Steels in Welland. He always took great pride in doing a job well and often persevered in doing things perfectly. Following his retirement he enjoyed time at the cottage on the French River picking blueberries and fishing, spending time with family and friends, and especially enjoying time with his grandchildren, whom he adored. He and Patricia moved to Mississauga two years ago to be closer to their children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his no-nonsense common sense, his love of family, his pride in their accomplishments, his laughter, and his generosity.

He is survived by his brother Douglas, sisters-in-law Sylvia and Anne, and many nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his brother Harry (Bud).
Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will take place due to Covid-19 restrictions.
In lieu of flowers donations to the War Amps would be appreciated by the family.

Doug and I were very shocked and saddened to learn of Dick's passing. He was devoted to his family, his wife Pat and children Dianne {Dave}, Steve {Cheryl}, Karen [Brent}, and his 5 Grandchildren. He was a perfectionist at work and at play. He was a wonderful older Brother he was there when Doug needed him, he was always calm. He had great clothes. He will be missed.
Our deepest sympathies to Pat and family.

My deepest condolences go out to the Gerber family. Steve has always shared great quirky stories about his dad that often shined a light onto where Steve gets his kindness and patient resolve. Take care and stay united during this tough time.
