Reverend Linda May Maw (nee Coppin) BHSc, BLS, MDiv
June 25, 1945 -November 12, 2024
It is with deep sadness that the family of Linda Maw announces her passing at the age of 79 on November 12, 2024. Cherished wife of 56 years to David Maw, Linda was the beloved daughter of the late William and Elinor Coppin. She was a loving mother to Carolyn (Diego Udovicic) and Andrew (Liz Nash) and a devoted grandmother to Jack, Margo, Miles, and Maggie. She also leaves behind dear brothers-in-law Larry (Kay) Maw, Murray (Donna) Maw, and many nieces and nephews. Loving cousin to Joan & the late Art Smith, Hugh & the late Pauline Mable, Richard & Sue Boyce and Marjory-Anne & the late Chris Kempffer and their children and grandchildren.
After graduating in 1968 from MacDonald Institute at University of Guelph, she completed a degree in library science at University of Toronto. Linda began her career as a librarian at the U of T Reference Library and then Ontario Hydro before finding her true calling. In 2003, she was ordained as a Minister of The United Church of Canada, dedicating herself fully to her faith and church community in the Tupperville area.
As a teenager, she cherished her time at Camp Miniwanca and CGIT camp. Linda's adventurous spirit took her on travels around the world, enriching her life with diverse experiences. An avid singer, Linda's voice graced many choral groups and church choirs throughout her life. In her later years, she actively participated in yoga, aquafit, and a weekly walking group. A life-long learner, she always looked for opportunities to further her knowledge in many subjects including participating in reiki healing. Linda's thoughtful nature was evident in her numerous charitable contributions, always looking out for others and brightening their days with heartfelt cards and gifts. Linda will also be fondly remembered for her generous and kind heart, and her unwavering dedication as a member of St. James United Church in Etobicoke.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of kindness, and generosity will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
