Reta loves flowers but if you are instead compelled to give a donation she would like it sent to The Markhaven Foundation.

Reta Rosella a fun, loving, devoted mom, grandma and great grandma, sister, daughter, wife. A hard worker and very organized. When she had her 8 children, there were only cloth diapers. I can still see the stack of folded diapers on the table and the safety pins on mom's smock.

She always had a fresh meal on the table for her large boisterous, busy family and any friends that may have shown up. That was a big part of who she was. She grew up on a farm. She often said she preferred the farm life...she said it was simpler.

She'd peel 10lbs of potatoes for one meal. When Angela left home to start her own family, and as she ventured to cook her first meal, she peeled 10lbs of potatoes. Mom got an SOS call from Angela and she said..."mom, I just peeled 10lbs of potatoes, what am I going to do with it all". Mom told her make Potatoe salad. Angela ate Potatoe salad for a week.

When mom ate butter, she put some bread with it. Her butter had to be on both sides of the bread and if it was toast, the butter had to drip through. Ahhhhhhh the French in her.

Every occasion or celebration, mom would make it special. From Christmas (with all the gifts under the tree, huge meals with the house filled with extended family), Easter with her easter bread and blueberry pies (absolutely delicious) and making easter eggs. She'd polish our shoes...line them up and we'd be off to mass. Not an easy feat with 8 children, but she did it with ease...because that's just the way she was...she was amazing.

The last day of school we would run home with great anticipation...we knew we would see the car packed up and ready to go, up to the cottage for 2 months of summer. This was our family's happy place. Even the drive up was eventful as mom would drive strategically over the three "fly bumps" on the road. She would step on the gas and then take her foot off sending the car flying over the bump...our hands would fly up in the air like on a roller coaster and we all would say "hang on to your hats we are going over the railway tracks". We'd fly off the seat (no seat belt laws at the time). Giggling and so happy. Mom always aced this maneuver.

During summer, Mom would set up a puzzle by the window overlooking the lake. Dad would play his music and would grab mom and they'd dance to Perry Como and Frank Sinatra. Watching them dance was magical, they seemed to float across the floor.

You knew summers were ending when Dad, would start setting up Mom's birthday party, And what parties they were. Pig roast, Movies of the front lawn. People dancing and singing. And cake fights...and guess who started the cake fights...MOM...sometimes it took days to clean it up...but mom was happy. And we got to see mom's spunk in full view.

Mom, loved sports, her favourite athlete was Guy Lafleur. Mom could be seen sitting in the stand at her children's school sports. Back 50 years ago, Mom was the only parent sitting there watching her kids play.

Her devotion to spending time with her family multiplied when she continued this with her grandchildren. Grandma was at almost every game, dance recital, graduation, birthday party that her grandchildren had. She spent quality and influential time with them to the point we called many of her granddaughters "little Reta's".
Grandma even learned to rap...thanks to Sarah. Nothing more entertaining than to see a Raping Grandma. As soon as her grandchildren were of age they accompanied grandma to BINGO. Their saying was "What happens at Bingo, Stays at Bingo". And “What happens at Grandma’s stays at Grandmas”.

As Jason, Andrea, Cynthia, Jenny, Billy Sarah, Christina, Julia, Joey, Nikolas had the gift of having their grandmother live close it did not affect the close relationship with her grandchildren who lived afar. They, Zach, Adam, Lisa, Ryan and Bianca still had a close connection with their Grandmother. A great grandmother to Sophia, Athena, Johny, Jayden, Bryson, Avery, Mackenzie and Zoey and around June Michael will arrive.
They all knew how much fun it was to be around her. They knew that she would make them laugh with her spunky sense of humour. They knew they would get advice if they needed it even if they didn't want it.

I want to Thank God for giving her family and anyone who knew her the gift of her, of being in her presence. She was a rainbow of light in our lives and an energy most could not keep up with. She is resting now but never hesitate to ask Reta Rosella for guidance. She will be there for you as she always has.

Missing you so very much Mom, but I know you are in a better place and grateful your pain is gone. I pray you and your sisters and brothers, your mom and dad and Dad and Angela are having a wonderful reunion in Heaven. I love you so much and grateful for all you have done for me in my life especially all the time you spent with Sarah, Christina and Julia. So many beautiful times spent all together.

Grandma,
I'm so thankful I got to spend a lot of great days with you. Still, it will never seem like enough time.

Wish we had one more great day. We could get that shiny white pickup truck you wanted and go around town filling it to the brim with antique... "treasures". We could stop by Zellers Diner for lunch and order ZBurgers with fries (and tell Julia we got salads) and make it back in time for Victor.

I will miss you very, very, very, very, very much.
Love, Sarah
