In Celebration of

Rene Galipeau

March 30, 1945 -  March 31, 2021

Peacefully at Princess Margaret Hospital, surrounded by family.
Born in Matatchewan and raised in Welland, Rene graduated from Niagara College and soon thereafter moved to Toronto where he enjoyed a lifelong career as a proud mining executive and chairman of several boards. Remembered for his creativity, loyalty and positive outlook he was a professional in cowboy boots and crazy socks.
Recently crowned "Captain Positive:,he beat the odds of cancer and covid with his immense lust for life and endless supply of energy.
Rene always knew how to have a good time. He loved to travel, golf, cheer the Blue Jays, cruise around in his convertible or on his Harley and enjoy elaborate dinners around the world.
He leaves a part of himself at his beloved cottage on Lake Erie where he sat and watched the lake, built camp fires and drove his grandkids around on his golf cart. He was a tremendous family man.
Deeply missed and loved by -
His wife, of 35 years, Mary.
His children and step-children - Mark (Kim), Michelle (Iain) Ryan (Steph) and Margot.
Playful Pepere aka "Pie" to his grandchildren - Andrew, Jack, Ryley, Tyler, Zion and Euphemia.
Dear brother to Leo (Joan), and late brothers Roland and Marcel.
We love you Rene and will forever think of you with joy in our hearts.
We will celebrate Rene's life in his style - a party - as soon as we can. All family and friends are invited.

As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to CAMH, Sick Children's Hospital, and/or MS Society of Canada.
