In Celebration of

Ravinder Gill

August 15, 1947 -  October 31, 2024

Ravinder Gill was a remarkable man whose journey from Bagga, a small village in Punjab, to a successful, fulfilled life in Canada is an inspiration to all who knew him. He arrived in Canada in 1972 without formal education but with an abundance of determination. He faced the many challenges of a new country with resilience, humour, and a steadfast commitment to building a better life for his wife and children.

His deep affection for his family shone in everything he did. He was a supportive husband to his wife, an adored father to his three children and a beloved grandfather to six grandchildren, each of whom cherished his generosity and laughter.

Ravinder Gill was known for his charisma, perseverance and humour, qualities that endeared him to everyone who crossed his path. His love for his family extended deeply to his 3 brothers and his sister. Together, they shared a bond rooted in tradition, respect, and the shared memories of their early lives in India.

Whether through his stories, his infectious laughter, or the small gestures that showed how much he cared, Ravinder Gill left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His legacy lives on through the family he loved so dearly, a family that will always remember his spirit, strength, and unconditional love.

I will miss you dearly. You were an inspiration of the Canadian dream of an Indian with hard work, determination, love and care for everyone around you. Although we were not related by blood, but through your brother's marriage to my father's sister, you had always treated me just as close as any of your nephews with your kindness, love and generosity. You will always be remembered as a star on the dance floor, inspiring me and countless others to get out there and express ourselves through our tradition music. My latest and fondest memories would be our trip to Mexico. Once landed, the week prior, the hustle getting ready and acclimated to a country so extremely foreign to us with no help but google translate and a map, an empty stomach and awe of the country. We would try to explore, eat and learn about the city. The wedding, our involvement and bond of our relative getting married and celebrating in a beautiful setting and making sure to do our part for things to go as planned. The final week trying to cherish time with those who live there, learning the vast culture and history of the biggest city in North America, Mexico City. You'll always be remembered.
Love,
Richard S. Naz
