With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ralph Douglas Smith, at the tender age of 49, born on April 20, 1976. After a short and courageous four-month battle with cancer, Ralph passed away peacefully at Mackenzie Health Hospital on November 26, 2025.
Ralph faced his illness with remarkable strength. Even through immense pain, he continued to work and stay involved in what he loved. His kindness, warmth, and steady presence touched everyone who knew him, and the memories he leaves behind will be forever cherished.
Ralph is best known for his dedication to his work and his pride in building his own business, Eagle Wing Landscaping. Creating and growing that business brought him immense joy, and it reflected his strong work ethic, creativity, and commitment to doing every job with care. Through his years of work, Ralph formed countless strong and lasting friendships—connections built on trust, laughter, and the genuine way he treated every person he met.
What truly defined Ralph, however, was the way he lived his life. He had an incredible ability to make friends everywhere he went, greeting everyone with an open heart and a sense of humour that could brighten any room. Ralph was a kid at heart, never losing his playful spirit, and he had a heart of gold—always ready to help anyone, no matter who they were or what they needed. Genuine to the core, Ralph was exactly who he appeared to be: honest, caring, and full of life.
He took pride in the little things that made him happy: keeping his truck spotless, his love for Dodge Rams, listening to Johnny Cash, enjoying a beer by the fire, and dressing up in silly costumes just to make his grandkids laugh. Those joyful moments will live on in the hearts of everyone who shared them with him.
Ralph is survived by his loving spouse, Shirley Clark; his children, Victoria Smith and Casey Zwicker, and her husband Zoohir, known by Ralph as “Pops”; and his beloved grandchildren, Layla, Hanna, and Zayd, who were the light of his life. Ralph also shared a close and loving bond with his father-in-law, George Clark.
He will be dearly remembered by his siblings:
• Bonnie Major and her husband Rocky Major, and their sons Chris and Brandon;
• Tammy Smith, and her children Benjamin and Ashley;
• And his brother, Timmy and his wife Liz.
Ralph is predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Linda Smith as well as his mother-in-law Linda Clark whom he now joins in peace.
Ralph- until we meet again!
Celebration-of-life details will be updated and shared with family and friends as soon as they are available.
