In Celebration of
Philip Duncan Francis
November 29, 1944 -
November 7, 2016
On November 7, 2016, at the Dorothy Ley Hospice, Philip died peacefully, at the age of 71.
Predeceased by his son John Gregory, mother Enid, and step-father Tom Sharp. Loving partner to Brenda Perkins for 35 years.
Philip will be lovingly remembered by: his sister Eila (late Jack Wisswell); nieces Susan (Wayne Ralph) and children Brooks and Steffi Ralph; and Patti (Scott Clawson) and children Becky and Emma Clawson; brother in law Ron Unger (Peg), and children David, Tyler (daughter Piper), and Alexandra Unger. He will be sadly missed by Caryl Unger, Scott Finley (Grace), Jeff Finley, and their children, his dear friend Jane Anderson, many long-time friends, and members of the National Yacht Club, where Phil was a Senior Life member.
His career took him from President of Village Ceramics, to IT at Canadian Wheelchair, to Director of IT at Invacare Canada.
His passion for sailing on his beloved Summer Consort, a Heritage 35 that he began building in 1974, and launched in 1976, was admired by many as were his skills in everything from woodworking to mechanical repairs, to his collection and love of tools.
He and Brenda enjoyed many years of sailing Lake Ontario and the 1000 Islands in the summer, and the Caribbean in the winter.
Cremation has taken place. A gathering to remember Phil will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 2-5 pm.
