In Celebration of

Paul Wah Wu

November 9, 1949 -  April 28, 2020

PAUL WAH WU passed away peacefully on April 28th, 2020 at the age of 70, after bravely facing ALS. Born in Shanghai, China, and raised in Hong Kong, Paul came to Canada in 1967 and studied at the University of Toronto Schools (UTS, Class of ‘69). He continued his academic pursuits by earning a Bachelor of Arts, Architectural Studies (University of Toronto, Class of ‘73), and a Master of Landscape Architecture and Urban Design (Harvard University, Class of ‘75). Through the decades, his designs have had a global impact; planning and beautifying cities in Canada, USA, Hong Kong, China, and the Middle East.

Loving husband of 47 years to Sophia, beloved father to Pauline and her husband, Andrew, as well as proud grandfather to Alexander. Paul’s warmth, humour, intellect, joy for cooking (and eating!) will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A special thank-you to the wonderful doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff who supported the family during their journey with ALS. If desired, memorial donations can be made to the ALS Society of Canada (www.als.ca). A Celebration of Life will be arranged for a later date at the Toronto Chinese Methodist Church.

Sophia,
I am so sorry to hear of paul's passing. I really enjoyed the conversation we had when we got together and
did a comparison of the culture between China and Germany. I will truly miss his companionship.
Joe.

Paul, you will no longer suffer from your illness. The happy BBQ gatherings at Mimi and Vincent house will be in my memory forever. You are an amazing scholar indeed. Rest In Peace In Heaven.
Sophia, please take care of yourself and enjoy your grandkid. This is what Paul wants you to do. ——- Love from Connie Lam

We will miss the legend of Mr. Wu. He had an amazing spirit for life. Within minutes of meeting him you could tell how deeply he cared for Sophia, Pauline, Alexander and Andrew. He battled ALS one of the hardest illnesses for anyone and his family. His passion for people, delicious food, good design and fun times was hard to match. I will never forget the amazing feast we shared before the wedding. His memories will carry on in young Alexander. With love from Newfoundland
Love to you all- Josh, Melissa and Ethan.
