In Celebration of

Paul McKenzie

April 27, 1928 -  January 26, 2023

Passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto. Clara, Dave, Art, Jean and Don were with him and cheering him on to his next life. He passed away at the age of 94.

Paul was the cherished husband of Clara (nee Douloff) for 69 amazing years; adored bro (father) of Dave (Marlene), Art (Diane), Jean (Daniel) and Don; much loved Dedo (grandfather) to Megan, Jillian, Tegwen, Cara, Lauren, Emerson, Austin, Noah, Jacob and Grace; great-grandfather of Rylie, Naomi and Vincent; and forever remembered by his siblings Nancy (Campbell) MacPherson and Alan (Pauline).

Biographical Information:

Paul was born in Toronto, April 27th, 1928. He was the first son of Elmer Moses McKenzie and Doris Annie Louise Browning McKenzie. Bro summed up his life stating:

“I have been most fortunate and blessed with parents who started my early life with large doses of love and encouragement, as well as promoting family and religious values! Then came a beautiful talented wife with a warm and loving personality! This led to two more wonderful and supportive parents, four loving children and their special spouses, ten super grandchildren and 3 adored great grandchildren!

A meaningful practising religion was and key ingredient!

My 39 year educational-career was most rewarding in terms of pupil, teacher and parent support and service. An opportunity to serve the community, as well as the church, were added essentials. Of course, the opportunity to travel and to be involved in sports and entertainment are key ingredients for a rounded life-experience!

However, one of my strong beliefs, acting as glue to all dimensions of my life’s involvements are:

HUMOUR and LAUGHTER

In my opinion, life would be very drab without a good daily laugh!”

Bro instilled in us all a great sense of family and to that end we were all encouraged through life with family mottos of: “McKenzie’s are tough!”, “No goal is too high, if you aim with care and confidence!” And “Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit!!!”

Bro, you will be missed but never forgotten.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation.
