In Celebration of

Patricia Kate Prendergast

August 29, 1928 -  February 28, 2020

Wife, mother, grandmother, died peacefully in Mississauga, Ontario on February 28, 2020, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 91. Pat was born in Calgary in 1928 to parents Pauline and Gerald Brophy, a railway engineer. She graduated from Montreal’s McGill University and soon married a decorated Second World War fighter pilot, James Bernard Prendergast, and never looked back. Pat would live in more than 30 homes and 7 cities during her life. She was active athletically and socially. She loved tennis, platform tennis, sailing, bridge and golf, and held the honour of being the last serving President of the Ladies Section at the Toronto Golf Club. Pat was predeceased by her husband in 2005, but is survived and cherished by her four children: Mary (Jef) Kinney, Megan (Jeff) Goss, Brian (Catherine), and Jane (Sylvie), and loved deeply by her 5 grandchildren: Erika and Jake Goss; Jason (Amanda), Blake and Maddie Prendergast. Pat will be remembered for her quick wit, her joie de vivre, and her love of animals and of her family. A special thank you to the staff of the Port Credit Residences for the wonderful care she received, and also to the palliative and 3A staff of the Trillium Mississauga Hospital for providing care and comfort to her and her family.
For those who wish, donations can be made to Trillium Health Partners Foundation, supporting the Palliative Care program at the Mississauga Hospital site. Donate at trilliumgiving.ca/inmemory, by phone at (905) 848-7575 or by mail to Trillium Health Partners Foundation. There will be a family celebration of her life at a later date.

Hello Brian:
You will recall that I knew Pat Brophy at McGill and lived with Jim Prendergast at a fraternity house in Toronto before we were married. My fondest memories of Pat and JIm were centered around The Royal St Lawrence Yacht Club in Dorval but we were also neighbours when they lived on York Mills Road.
I have not seen Pat for at least three years but she has often been on my mind. I was very fond of her and I want to express my condolences to you and your siblings on your loss.

Pat was one of the most welcoming and gracious ladies at Toronto Golf Club. A pleasure to play with when I was just beginning to catch onto the game. So sorry to see her go. My condolences to the whole family.

You mom was one of the great ones. My folks thought the world of her, and your dad.
My Pa was a WW2 pilot as well, and they shared many tales after golf at TGC.
May her ready laugh and kind touch live on where ever angels are, and through the Pendergast family tendrils that coil through and connect you all.
