In Celebration of

Patricia Carson

May 11, 1928 -  September 26, 2016

CARSON, Patricia
May 11, 1928 – September 26, 2016
Retired Principal at the Toronto Board of Education

At Toronto Western Hospital on September 26 after a brief illness. Daughter of the late William and Josephine Sheppard. Pat is survived by her children Carson Carson and his partner Rod Gass, Gillian Carson and her husband Bob Noble, grandchildren Erin Noble (Adam Dolson), Iain Carson-Huggins and Evan Carson and great-grandson Andrew Dolson.

She had a distinguished professional career with the Toronto Board of Education as a teacher and principal. She also served as the provincial president of the Federation of Women Teachers’ Associations of Ontario and president of District 16 of the Retired Teachers of Ontario.

Pat’s greatest strength was in the way that she approached the people in her life be it family, friends or acquaintances. She was always willing to give of herself to help anyone whether it was offering a sympathetic ear, taking a leading role in community service groups or being there when people needed her most. Her lasting legacy will be the strong friendships she formed with all of the people in her life.

A memorial service will be held at St. Matthew’s Church, 3962 Bloor St. West Toronto on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders.

In loving memory of my dear friend Pat.
I believe that close friends are the family we choose for ourselves. Pat and I met 59 years ago in
Teachers' College and remained friends. She was the one person I know who exemplified the best of the Judaeo-Christian beliefs! Pat was kind, caring and always gave of herself. A strong
woman, she loved crossword puzzles, theatre, a good chuckle and, most of all a spirited debate!
Shalom my friend....rest in peace.

Remembering Pat when she was our principal at Bruce Public School. I was her Administrative Assistant when she first arrived at Bruce. Will always remember her for her pioneering spirit in encouraging women in education. She recommended me for a year's leave so that I could pursue my B.A. Condolences to her family who meant the world to her. RIP Pat.

I will miss you greatly my dearest friend. Our lunches, dinners, going to concerts, plays at Stratford etc. but most of for your caring, loving, lasting friendship over 50years. You were my Canadian family and all my Trini family met and loved you too. You saw me through joys and sorrows. We had such fun together. I will never forget you.
" Your friend is your needs answered. (S)he is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving....for you come to (her) with your hunger, and you seek (her) for peace. ..and in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed."
From The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran.

You were this to me Pat. God bless you and embrace you in his arms.

Pat was my neighbour and friend for 25 years. I'll miss her sharp mind, wonderful sense of humour and the many kindnesses she showed me over the years.
