<div itemprop="description">After a long and heroic battle with colorectal cancer, Dr. Pasko Pavkovic passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 13, 2015. He was the loving husband of Frances, the devoted father of Mark and glowingly proud new father-in-law of Lina Policaro. Pasko is survived by his brother Rajko and sister Nevenka in Herzegozina as well as numerous relatives in Canada and Europe. He was born January 16, 1941 in the small village of Izbicno in Herzegozina. Upon completing both elementary &amp; secondary school in Siroki Brijeg he attended the University of Zagreb, Croatia where he graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 1968. After immigrating to Canada in 1970, Pasko successfully passed both the provincial and federal veterinary examinations and began working as a veterinarian with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency retiring as a Regional Veterinary Supervisor in 1998. He then consulted as a Veterinary Auditor with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food from 1999 to 2011. The College of Veterinarians of Ontario granted him Emeritus Standing in 2012. He was an avid tennis player and was a member of the former Skyline Club, the James Gardens Tennis Club, Wymbolwood Beach Tennis Association and Seascape Tennis Club in Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Mount Sinai Hospital or the Princess Margaret Foundation to assist other patients who have been diagnosed with cancer and to honour the wonderful work of the staff at both of these institutions. Pasko always had a positive attitude, a will to live and fight the disease. He never forgot his humble roots and Croatian heritage and was a warrior to the end. He is resting at the Turner &amp; Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, east of the Jane subway. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 3-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 3055 Bloor Street West at 11 a.m. Reception to follow at St. George&rsquo;s Golf and Country Club, 1668 Islington Ave, Toronto. Interment to follow at a later date. Online condolences may be made through www.turnerporter.ca</div>
