Peacefully on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 in Toronto after a very full and well-lived life.
Predeceased by his wife Anne in 2015. Orlando leaves his two daughters Tanya (David) and Saskia (Gary), his five grandchildren (Callum, Keiran, Ronan, Declan and Brenna), his Martini cousins, and longtime friends Janis, Betty, and Penny.
Orlando was a world traveller, an engineer, a lover of pasta, red wine and opera and a very proud Papa. He was also an exceptional volunteer. He was instrumental in setting up both the University of Toronto 5T6 Civils Scholarship in the early 1960s and the Weston Collegiate Alumni Foundation in the early 1980s. He served in various capacities for both groups with passion and dedication from their inception until a couple of years ago. Orlando also served as the President of the Ontario Water Pollution Control Federation (now Water Environment Association of Ontario) and volunteered with the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers and the American Society of Civil Engineers. In addition, Orlando’s surveying background and love of track & field saw him inducted as a Builder with the Ontario Track & Field Association (now Athletics Ontario) Hall of Fame in 2011. While Orlando was bestowed with numerous accolades and awards for his service over the years, he remained until the very end a very humble and kind man.
Orlando will leave a lasting impression on his family, the surviving 5T6 civils graduating class, numerous friends, the Weston Collegiate community, former colleagues and the engineering sector, neighbours (Powburn, Rivercove and Barclay Terrace), and his “new” family at Kingsway Retirement Home.
