It is with great sadness we announce the death of Olive Agnes James who died on Sunday, November 30th, 2025 at Extendicare Long Term Care Facility in Brampton. She was surrounded by family and friends.
A woman of humble beginnings, Olive built a very successful career in the world of science. After graduating from the University of Toronto, she devoted her working life to medical research at various institutions including McMaster University and Connaught Labs. During her time of service she achieved numerous successes, some of which were publicly acknowledged and rewarded through a number of awards, citations and various forms of individual recognition. Along with her professional successes she fostered and built strong relationships with colleagues, some of whom, became friends and who from time to time, accompanied her on her world travels and adventures.
Olive’s mom and dad predeceased her as well as her sister Teresa, and brothers Basil, Hubert and Osborne.
Left to mourn are her sisters Ena, Mary, Beryl, Clara, Myrtle and Rosie, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
Olive will be dearly missed by all who loved her and her memories will sustain us for the duration of our lives.
Friends may call at the Turner & Porter ‘Peel’ Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga, on Friday, December 12th, 2025 from 12 noon – 3 pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier church, 5650 Mavis Rd., Missisuaga, on Saturday, December 13th, 2025 at 10 am.
