In Celebration of

Norma Jean Badke

April 21, 1938 -  July 20, 2019

Peacefully, on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the age of 81 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Beloved wife of the late John Smolyn (1994) and the late William Badke (2018). Loving mother of Sara Milks (Bill) and David Smolyn (Randy Hodgson). Devoted nana to Jonathon and Gillian Milks. Cherished sister to Harold Crosby(Leslie). Adoring aunt to her nieces and nephews in Ontario, British Columbia and Colorado.
Jean was a graduate of the University of Western Ontario, a dedicated teacher, an active volunteer for the Big Sisters Association of Toronto, as well as a past president of the University Women’s Club of Etobicoke. As a gourmet cook, her family and friends were often brought together to enjoy a meal prepared by the talented Jean and these special times will be missed by all who knew her.
Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Friday, September 13, from 10 am until time of Service of Remembrance in the Chapel at 11 a.m. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Jean was my sister, my friend, and my cherished mentor. I love her and I always will. She was and is a shining light among us. Rest easy, Jean. Til we meet again among the stars.

I love you so much Aunt Jean. I will miss your humor and potty mouth when no one was looking. I remember when you bought me lucky charms against your better judgment and we had a good chuckle over it. Thank you for the girls nights in watching silly movies and laughing uncontrollably at there silly humor. Most of all I miss you. Your fire, your spunk, and your tenacity. You were incredible. I will miss you like the moon misses the stars. Love always and forever, your niece, Katie Crosby.
