In Celebration of

Norlee Semkiw

November 9, 1941 -  August 23, 2019

Norlee Semkiw (nee Stalker) passed away peacefully at her home in Mississauga on Friday, August 23, 2019 at the age of 77 . Beloved wife of Dennis for 54 years. Loving mother of Marilee (Jeff) and Jonathan (Stacey). Proud grandmother of Ellen (Mike), William, Ben, Michael, Adam and Claire. Dear sister of Tanis Wolf (Jack predeceased) and sister in law of Brian Semkiw (Colleen). Predeceased by brother Don Stalker (Muriel).

Norlee spent her life enjoying the company of her family and friends. She loved playing both bridge and golf, and was an avid member of multiple bridge clubs throughout her life, as well as a longtime member of Derrydale Golf Club, Trafalgar Golf Club, Grandview Golf Club, and Markland Wood Golf Club. She was also an avid reader, and was never without a book in progress. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed many summers at the cottage in Gravenhurst, as well as trips to the house in Pompano Beach almost every winter.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N. of Q.E.W) on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 11AM, with visitation one hour prior at 10AM. Reception to follow at Mississauga Golf and Country Club. A special thanks to the staff at Trillium Health Centre and Mississauga Halton LHIN for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Online condolences can be shared at www.turnerporter.ca

I am very sorry for those affected by the loss of Norlee. My fondest memory of Norlee was when my husband Keith and I stayed at Norlee and Denis’ home after honeymooning at Niagra Falls some 33 years ago. I was a young bride of 20 and very nervous. I was immediately made to feel at ease. Their home had a very relaxed and carefree feel to it. My parents had told me not to be nervous as Norlee and Denis were very down to earth people. They were right . Thank you Norlee for opening up your home to someone that you really didn’t know very well and for enabling a blushing young bride to relax and enjoy her time spent there.

Rest In Peace
Love

Dear Dennis, Jonathan, Marilee and family:
We are saddened to hear of Norlee’s passing. Some of my happiest golf memories are from the years I played with Norlee at Markland Wood. A putt failing to drop by rimming out of stopping 1 dimple short of sinking would elicit Norlee’s response of “and Jesus wept”. So many fun bridge games with that card shark as well. We send you prayers for strength and the hope that your many memories will help you through these dark days. I am sure it has been a very difficult journey.
