Peacefully passed away on July 20, 2025, just 6 weeks short of her 94th birthday.
Norah was the beloved wife of the late David John Vernon Price (1924-2022), greatly loved mother to her only daughter Katherine Anne Price Nazarian, much loved mother-in-law to Vigen Nazarian and adored grandmother to Matthew Armen and Christopher David Nazarian. Norah was also a cherished Aunt to many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and extended family.
Norah was born September 9, 1931, in Montreal Quebec, to the late Mary Murray (née) Ryan and Richard Murray. Born at the beginning of the Great Depression and a teenager during WWII, life was challenging. She was the seventh of nine children with only two sisters and a brother surviving to adulthood due to childhood illnesses. Norah developed her strong work ethic, love of family, resiliency and, strong self reliance from these experiences. Norah trained in secretarial college and started her career with Texaco Canada Ltd. in Montreal. She later worked for Canadian Industries Limited (C-I-L) at their head office in Montreal, leaving only to raise a family. Twelve years later, she returned to C-I-L, at their headquarters now in Toronto to resume her career. Norah worked her way up through various positions, eventually transferring to a former C-I-L subsidiary, AT plastics in Brampton where she retired at age 68 as the executive assistant to the company CFO.
Norah was a proud Canadian, celebrated Canada Day heartily, and was a proud Montrealer. Although a self-described city girl, Norah met Vernon skiing in the Laurentian Mountains where they fell in love and later married in the Autumn of 1958. They were married for 64 years until she was widowed in 2022. Norah always gave her time for causes close to her heart; she worked and supported many charitable organizations during her life. She was a hospital volunteer, guiding leader, and active in the community. A staunch proponent of education, she felt the way to a better society was through good public education and accessible healthcare. She was passionate about civic engagement, and never missed an opportunity to vote, advocate, or volunteer for causes she believed in. She was an early supporter of indigenous rights, workplace equity for women and the need for honouring human rights. Although, she had no formal training she was a caregiver all her adult life, initially to her ailing father in her early 20’s, helping to care on occasion for young nieces and nephews, raising her own daughter, a caregiver to her much-loved young grandsons and finally a full-time caregiver to her husband with Alzheimer’s.
Norah was a wonderful Mom, and Grandma, supportive and loving to her family. A great cook and the best strawberry tart and pecan pie maker for Canada Day parties. She loved to sew and was an original DIYer. She liked to discuss politics, was a news junkie, embraced technology, was fiercely independent, did her banking on her cell phone, mastered using emojis in her texts and was sharp of mind till the end. Always practical, resilient, was there for those who needed her, she loved her family and extended family dearly, always asking about their well being, interests, cherishing the time spent with all and extolling their accomplishments. She proudly hosted and later attended family dinners, graduations, parties and life events. Daughter, Mom, Grandma, Aunt and Great Aunt, you are always in our hearts with wonderful memories and a loving family that carries your values as your legacy. You will be missed.
A thank you to Credit Valley Hospital and the many wonderful medical professionals who have helped her over the years. Your work is truly appreciated.
-Always in our hearts-
