It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Nikolaus Katko in his 79th year, just two days shy of his 80th birthday. Nikolaus passed peacefully on May 30, 2025, surrounded by love and cherished memories.
Beloved son of the late Nickolai and Nina Katko, Nikolaus was a devoted brother to Alexandres Katko and Raissa Jilon, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond filled with warmth, laughter, and enduring love. He was a proud and loving uncle to Leon, Nina, Anna, and Elizabeth Jilon, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Nikolaus was best known as the proud owner of Brazil Appliances in Toronto’s Junction neighbourhood, where he built not only a successful business but also countless friendships. Over the years, he became a trusted face in the community, known for his honest work, gentle demeanor, kind heart, and the beautiful smile that made every customer feel like a friend.
His legacy is one of humility, kindness, and connection. Whether in business, family, or everyday life, Nikolaus made those around him feel seen, heard, and appreciated. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, customers, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A private family service will be held in his honour. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in Nikolaus’ memory.
