In Celebration of

Nicholas Kowdrysh

December 5, 1932 -  May 11, 2025

We are saddened to announce that Nicholas “Nick” Kowdrysh died on May 11, 2025 in his 93rd year after a long and courageous battle. Nick was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ann of 32 years, his parents John and Annie, and by his siblings Josephine and Walter, his sister-in-law Marie and brothers-in-law Neville, and Steve.

He was born in Cudworth, Saskatchewan on December 5, 1932
Loving father of John and Rory (Sarah Gilroy). Nick was affectionately known as “Guido” (Gedo) by his granddaughters Mary Kate and Bridget who will miss him tremendously. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his siblings Fred, Katie, Frances (Marcel) and his sister-in-law Vera. Nick was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews and always truly enjoyed his frequent visits from Sherry and Karl and his sister Frances and his niece Tammy.

Nick left the farm and embarked on his journey in life initially teaching in one room classrooms in rural Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. He eventually settled in Toronto and began working for UIC. He then moved onto Canada Post where he enjoyed a successful career of over 30 years mostly in management.
Nick possessed a fierce work ethic exemplified by an 18-year perfect-attendance record, he held upon his retirement to care for his ailing wife.

An avid sports fan and was very proud of his large vegetable garden. Nick was always willing to give of his time to help others in any way that he could.

When facing significant health adversity later in life Nick toughness allowed him to never stop fighting until the very end.

A special thanks to all the neighbours ”and their dogs” who brightened many of his days. Also, thank you to Lauren and the staff at West Park Prosthetics department for their kindness, patience and professionalism.

Visitation for Nick will be held at Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W Etobicoke on Thursday May 15th, 2025, from 5-8pm. A Requiem Mass will take place on Friday May 16th, 2025 at 11am at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, 122 Rathburn Road, Etobicoke. Interment to follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, 6933 Tomken Rd.
