Nadia was born in Ukraine and immigrated to Canada from France, Colmar region, in approximately 1945 at the age of 7.
In Toronto, Nadia spent her time in Plast and was in the same group as her dear friends Oksana Ruzycky, Luba Ostapiak, a friend of 80 yrs and her maid of honour, and Slawka Ihnatowich. She attended camps in Grafton and later built a cottage there with her husband, Orest. Nadia spent most of her family summers at the cottage with her kids where she loved landscaping the grounds, cutting the grass, going on bike rides, attending church and visiting her dear friend Pani Ksenia Stasiw. During her younger years none of her friends had a car so they all spent much time hanging out together at Christie, Plast, Palace Pier and soccer games where she followed Orest and once remarked that he had nice legs.
Nadia attended school in Ancaster for grades 9-11 after which time she pursued a short modelling career and later graduated as a nursing assistant in Toronto. Much of Nadias life was devoted to raising 5 boys beginning in 1960 and for the following 30 years. Once during a family trip to Florida Nadia climbed a Coconut tree, determined to get the prize. She also pursued an interest in bowling with Orest at the church league and both were known to be skilled bowlers. Nadia was ambitious pursuing work at Stollerys, a men's clothing store and further acquired a Real Estate License. Once asked to show a property Nadia remarked "I can't because I don't have a car". And Orest was then very often obliged to chauffuer Nadia to many of her engagements.
Nadia embraced singing in the Dibrova and St Demetrius Church choirs. She spent countless hours decorating, fundraising with walkathons, maintaining the grounds at St Demetrius Church, teaching Kindergarten at St. Sofias school and later provided ongoing support and assistance to seniors at the Ukrainian Canadian Care Center.
Nadia will be remember as an talented artistic individual who spent countless hours painting detailed trypillian ceramics, a lifelike painting of tulips at Ancaster, a wall mural at St Sofias school, and she loved landscaping and making colourful floral arrangements.
Nadia hosted many parties at her home and cottage bringing family and friends together for all kinds of occasions. She will be sadly missed by all who new her.
