Monsignor Jonas Staskevicius

November 26, 1936 - December 26, 2023

Peacefully, on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Labdara Nursing Home, at the age of 87. Devoted son of Juozas and Eugenija. Loving brother of Valentina Baliunas, Dr. Romas and Rev. Vytas. He was ordained in Rome in 1962. He celebrated his 61st year of priesthood on December 22, 2023.

Visitation will be held at Lithuanian Martyrs Catholic Church, 2185 Stavebank Rd., Mississauga, on Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Interment at St. John’s Lithuanian Cemetery.

Monsignor Jonas Staskevicius was a kind and caring priest. I remember when (many years ago) he attended my parents 25th wedding anniversary celebration, and then many years later he performed their final sacraments and held their Funeral Masses. The Lithuanian community in Toronto was very fortunate to have such a wonderful priest for so many years. R.I.P. Kunigas Jonai.
