It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Modesta Rosa Borges Grova on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in Mississauga. Born to her parents Joaquim and Laurinda Borges in Portugal. She spent most of her childhood in Lisbon and Porto. She immigrated to Canada in 1961 from Portugal and worked hard to make a life for herself and her family. She was a woman of great faith and devotion to St. Mary’s Parish in Toronto and the Legion of Mary. She is predeceased by her husband Manuel and her daughter Ana Maria. She will be sadly missed by her children Marilia (Jose Luis), Mario and Susan; her grandsons Nelson (Brenda), Paul (Antoinette) and Tyler; her great-grandchildren Stefano, Lucas, Mattea, Marcus and Jersey, and her extended family in Australia, Portugal and England. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter ‘Peel’ Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga (Hwy 10, N. of QEW) from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017. Funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 130 Bathurst St., Toronto, on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 9 a.m. Interment Assumption Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
