February 24, 1985 -
October 2, 2021
On Saturday, October 2, 2021, Miranda Germani, loving wife, mother, sister, and daughter, suddenly passed away at the age of 36.
Miranda was the dearly beloved wife of John Atkin, beloved mother of Edward Atkin, precious daughter of Mario Germani and Theodora Kempe and dear sister of Elena Germani (David). Dear grand-daughter of the late Dorothy Roberts and the late Rocco and Cesira Germani. Miranda will also be greatly missed by her large extended family in Canada, the UK, and the US whom she loved so much.
Miranda cherished her time with her immediate and extended family and looked forward all year to their annual family picnics at Centennial Park, camping trips, cottage visits, and ski days. She took delight in passing on her love of the outdoors to her young son Edward and ensured that he has also inherited her love of reading. Miranda loved to travel and created memories with her loved ones across countries and continents. She immensely valued time spent with her friends, staying in touch through career, country, and life changes.
Miranda’s endless energy and enthusiasm carried over into every aspect of her life. Having studied as a Health and Communications double major at McMaster University, she carried on her studies at Humber College, York University, and the London School of Economics and Political Science, where she graduated with an MSc in Health Economics, Policy and Management. At the time of her passing she was a dedicated member of the Communications team at MacKenzie Health focussing on the new Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital. Miranda strongly believed in giving back and was a member of the LSE Alumni Executive Committee, a Mentor and Facilitator with Girls E-Mentorship, and a Marketing Lead with Women Who Lead. She received the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers, presented by the Governor General of Canada, in recognition of her commitment to community.
