In Celebration of

Mileva Peric

February 16, 1934 -  September 19, 2022

With heavy hearts and sadness, we announce that our wife, mother and grandmother Mileva Peric passed away at Dorothy Ley Hospice in her 88th year. Her loving husband of 62 years, Marko was by her side, as well as her son Dennis and daughter Iva. She is also survived by her son-in-law Steve, grandchildren Christopher and Nicole and sisters, Franica, Lovorka and Dinka. Mileva was predeceased by her parents, Mara and Domeniko Banicevic and brother Luka and sister Marica.

Mileva was born in Cara, Croatia on the beautiful island of Korcula. In the early 60s, her sister Franica sponsored her arrival to Toronto. Shortly after she met her devoted husband, Marko and they married and had two children, Dennis and Iva. Mileva was a hardworking and loving mother, that was devoted to her family and catholic faith. She took pride in her cooking, baking and veggie garden. Her love and care for everyone was expressed through the fabulous food that she prepared. For most of her 88 years of life, she lived in good health. She endured her last two years with cancer and very little medication, a real testament of her strength of character and fortitude.

The family would like to extend a warm thank you to her sisters, cousins, extended family and friends for all their love and support in making her final weeks as loving as possible. Thank you also to Fra Mladen from Our Lady of Croatia Church for dispensing her final rite of Anointing of the Sick, the staff at Humber River Hospital and everyone at Dorothy Ley Hospice for all their effort and care of our mother.

Mileva’s beautiful smile will remain in the memories and hearts of her family and friends forever.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of the Jane Subway, on Wednesday September 21, 2022 from 4-8 pm. Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady Queen of Croatia, 7 Croatia St, Toronto, ON M6H 1K8, on Thursday September 22, 2022 at 10am. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
