In Celebration of

Mike Markakis

November 3, 1930 -  January 18, 2022

Mike Markakis peacefully passed away in his sleep on Tuesday January 18, 2022, after reaching the age of 91 years old. Mike had a gift of making everyone feel like family. Many would remember him for his generosity and honesty that extended well beyond his family and friends. He was patient, funny, energetic, and a hard worker. He was a source of positivity and demonstrated perseverance through the most difficult challenges.

Most important to Mike was his family. He was the youngest of five children, growing up on the beautiful island of Crete in Greece. He moved to Athens in his teenage years, where he met the love of his life for 58 years, Dina. They married on September 25, 1963. Mike and Dina started a new chapter together when they arrived in Canada in 1965. Shortly after, Mike and Dina bought a home and started a family together. He loved his daughter Maria and his son Manos. Mike was a proud grandfather of 5 beautiful grandchildren. His granddaughter Vanessa and grandsons Michel, Byron, and James. He was preceded in death by his first granddaughter, Natasha. In 1970, he came to know Jehovah and dedicated his life to the truth in 1971. He believed in the resurrection hope and told others about God’s Kingdom.

Mike will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving husband, father and grandpa, champion fixer of things, humorist, and proud follower of Jehovah. His joyous presence will be missed by all, but we are so grateful for the time we had with him. We will always keep his memory in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 29 at 2:30 p.m. and can be viewed via Zoom. Meeting ID: 862 9244 8849 Passcode: 828099
