JJ is a friend I have known for about 40 years on visits to the Montreal Irish Golf Tournament in Canton NY. He represents the very best of the Irish Canadian rugby community and it is a pleasure to have known him. He will be greatly missed.

JJ joined us on tour to Newfoundland in July 1992, as a supporter. In our second game, we were quickly down by almost 20 points. We battled back and took the lead but lost the game on a late kick. In the bar afterwards JJ declared to all that this was the team that would win the cup for the Irish, and we did win it, in October that year.
