Michael McBride

June 26, 1968 - March 5, 2026

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Michael McBride, at the Ian Anderson House Hospice in Oakville, on Thursday, March 5, 2026, in his 58th year.

Beloved husband of Anne for over 25 years. Loving father of Sean and Madelynne. Loving son of John (predeceased) and Mary McBride, and loving brother of Joanne McBride.

Michael is and was an amazing husband and father. He loved nothing more then his family. He had a passion for military history and politics. All that knew him knew he loved a good conversation and debate. Michael will be greatly missed for his sense of humour and sharp wit. After a life well lived Michael left this world, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter ‘Neweduk-Erin Mills’ Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. W., Mississauga (East of Erin Mills Pkwy), on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at Merciful Redeemer Catholic Church, 2775 Erin Centre Blvd., Mississauga, on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 10 o’clock.

For those who wish, donations may be made to the UHN Foundation or to Ian Anderson House Foundation.

I’m so sorry for your loss.

Michael’s strength and resilience were incredible, and the years you were able to share together after his transplant were truly a blessing.

Mike had been part of my life for as long as I've been alive; it is strange thing to think that he won't physically be there anymore.

So much of the things I enjoy came from Mike introducing me to them. I am thankful to have known him and thankful for the respect and kindness he showed me growing up, and for never treating me like some annoying kid.

Sending all of our love and well wishes to Anne, Sean and Maddy. May Mike rest in peace.

To my oldest and dearest friend I will miss you.

The memories we had together growing up as kids were priceless. From the schemes we would concoct, to the games that we would play, to what we thought were our “brilliant ideas” that were shot down by our parents (mostly for safety reasons), will never be forgotten.

We had so much fun. It truly was a kids paradise.

You were one of the most logical and tactical friends I ever had. All you had to do was play Mike in a game of chess or a game of risk and you would know what I mean.

Heaven help you if you ever tried to talk to him while he was watching an episode of Star Trek! I learned the hard way.

I will miss our lunch dates that we both looked forward to. We talked about everything from the shows we were watching, to how the world would be a better place if we were running it, to how we were the luckiest guys for having the most amazing families in the world.

A wise man once said, ”Everyone brightens up a room. Some when they enter and some when they leave”.

Mike, you always brightened up my time when we were together. I will miss you.
