One of the highlights that mom would always love to talk about were the good old days when she was working as an executive assistant for the president at an Oil Company in Calgary, Alberta. Not to mention the “many shopping sprees at the local Hudson Bay Stores”. One visit with mom several years ago found us trying to keep up with her while she used her walker milling about the good old Hudson’s Bay store at Sherway Gardens. It was difficult to keep up with her when she was on a mission, she was in her glory.
When the family was transferred to Cooksville, Ontario in 1965 you could always find a smiling cheery face out in the garden or cutting the lawn. Mom’s love for her family was generous and was always so proud of her “boys” and even more so with her grandchildren. As the families grew, so did her love.
Known for her feisty, tenacious, firm but fair demeanour Max always loved her family and family came first. In the latter years, with her many health challenges, she faced them with tenacity and could always find some humour. Such an inspiration and a tremendous example of never giving up.
Mom, we will miss you dearly and we are blessed to have been able to have you in our lives. Our family would like to recognize the caregivers that took such good care of mom, we are so grateful. Mom was recently at Camilla Care and Wellbrook Place before being transferred to Credit Valley Hospital where she passed.
In her honour, if you wish to make a donation, do so to your most cherished local charity.
