Maureen Crowther (née Seery), The Mother, The Granny, The Great-Granny, died peacefully at home on March 31, 2026, at 93 years of age. Born in Dublin, Ireland, she emigrated three thousand miles across the ocean to Canada by boat at age 30, bringing nothing but five kids under 12, all her worldly goods, and a truly terrifying force of will. She was our counsellor, our guide, our storyteller, our greatest teacher, our most sincere critic, and the source of our strength as individuals and as a family.

Maureen was the mainstay of mailroom operations and the MVP of General Electric’s annual baseball tournament for over 20 years. In close to three decades of retirement, she boosted her income by winning big at Bingo, and finally got to do all the things she never had time for while working and managing the unholy brood that she called her family.

Maureen was predeceased by her husband, Francis “Hank” Crowther; her son, Davy; her dear sisters, Rita and Fay; and her brothers, Christopher, Danno, Paddy, Tom, and Tony.

Maureen’s legacy of strength, humour, and determination lives on in her children—Breda, Brian (Imma), Ger, and Maura (Kathie); her grandchildren—Laura (Lars), Krista (Joe), Erich (Nicky), Sheamus (Fiorina), Brendan, Daniel (Amy), Mike, Irene (Nic), and Kathleen (Eric); and her 13 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters, Lucy and Connie and her brothers, Francis and Michael, her son-in-law, Herb, and too many treasured nieces, nephews, and friends to name.

Visitation and service will be held Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Turner & Porter "Peel Chapel", 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga. Visitation starts at 10:00 a.m., followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 a.m., and interment at Meadowvale Cemetery, 7732 Mavis Road, Brampton.
