In Celebration of

Maureen Blondin

On September 18, 2024, Maureen Blondin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and good friend, passed away peacefully at Trillium Hospital at age 85.

Born in Ottawa, she was the second of 5 children. Highly intelligent, she graduated with a BSc from the University of Ottawa at age 19 and immediately taught high school science and math. After raising her children, she became a bookkeeper. Maureen was a loving mother, gardener, creator of magic memories, baker, cook, and history teller, collector of family stories, genealogy researcher, foster mom, and volunteer for multiple good causes. She believed that women should always have a voice at the table, from the church to business to finances.

She leaves behind her real-life prince and love of her life for 64 years, Roland, her five cherished daughters, Lorraine (Richard), Jo-Ann (Steve), Jacquie (Mark), Lara (Gary), and Krista, as well as her six adored grandchildren Scott (Kristin), Rachelle (Matt), Callum, Lucas, Sophie and Sally. She is predeceased by her sisters, Gail (late Bert) and Kathleen, leaving behind her brothers, Brian (Debbie) and Richard (Maureen), and her sister-in-law, Andree (late Jim). She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews and always made them feel welcome.

Maureen loved the outdoors, from camping to finding beauty in nature to creating stunning gardens in her homes, and she especially enjoyed time at the family cottage. She made magical memories there for all who visited, especially her grandkids. Maureen had a soft spot for animals and family pets. Over her lifetime, she had dogs, cats, birds, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, raccoons, bullfrogs, fish, turtles, and a squirrel. She was an accomplished seamstress, knitter, and embroiderer. She loved antiques and the history that they represented, particularly ones passed down through generations.

Maureen believed every special event was a cause for a celebration.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Trillium Health Partners Foundation.
