In Celebration of

Mate Miljak

December 10, 1936 -  July 27, 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of Mate Miljak announces his peaceful passing on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at the age of 82, with his loving family by his side.
Mate will be forever remembered by his wife and best friend of almost 60 years, Jela (Jelica), and his children: Grozdana (Christine) and fiancé Murray; Maryanne and husband Jeff; Andy and wife Debbie.
Fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Dillon, Kaitlyn, Samantha, Amanda, Lauren, Matthew, and Taylor, by his sister Marija, by sister-in-law Mila, and by special niece, Susan. Mate will also be remembered by his extended family and dear friends.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving husband, father, and Dida, Mate worked hard and always put his family first. Mate was a kind and generous man. He was funny, a practical joker, and loved sports (especially the Croatia soccer team and the Montreal Canadians).
Mate was strong and continuously persevered through any challenge that he faced. He laughed, loved life, and will forever exemplify strength and courage.

The day God took you home...
A million times
We needed you
A million times we cried
If love alone
Could have saved you
You never would have died
In life we loved you dearly
In death we love you still
In our hearts you hold a place
No one else could ever fill
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone
Part of us went with you
The day God took you home
