In Celebration of

Mary Theresa Clare

June 15, 1947 -  December 26, 2017

It is with profound sadness and shock that we announce the sudden, unexpected passing of our beloved sister, Mary, twin to Catherine (Tony) and sister to Louise, on December 26, 2017. Mary was also the proud Aunt to Louise’s children: Julia (Michael) and Jonathan. Willie, her schnauzer, was one of the loves of her life.

Mary was a Registered Nurse, who cared deeply about others’ health and well being. She retired as Direcor of Care at Taylor Manor in Vancouver and moved to Toronto to take care of our ailing mother. Mary was a skilled diagnostician who was always ready and willing to help others navigate the health care system. She was a true advocate.

Mary was a very creative person who expressed her emotions through art, and jewelry design. She loved the simple things in life and took the time to appreciate all that nature had to offer. Mary had travelled extensively in her earlier years and cherished and respected the unique cultures that the world had to offer. She especially enjoyed her travels to Europe, Israel, Jordan, Hawaii and Mexico.

Mary loved tradition and celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Christmas and birthdays. Her artistic flair in decorating for these occasions was unparalleled.

Mary died too soon- there was still so much more of life for her to experience and enjoy. Mary was pre-deceased by her parents. In the last few years of our mother’s life she cared tirelessly for her.

Mary’s love of life was matched only by her love of family and friends. Although she left us too soon, she leaves us with inspiration to be true to ourselves and to be kind to all those we touch. Her gentle, loving soul will be missed.

It is with profound sadness that I write this email. Mary was a bright and shining star who lit up a room when she entered. I remember on a multitude of times when talking to her how she expressed so much interest in Helen and I and our daughters Heather and Lauren.
Mary was a very loving and caring individual as witnessed by her career choice (nursing) and her care for her Mother, Zita, during the last few years of her Mother's life.
My deepest condolences to her sisters Louise and Catharine who were such a large part of Mary's life
May God grant Mary everlasting life in heaven

It was and is shocking to think that Mary has passed on. Though I haven't seen Mary in a very long time, I did see her often when I used to visit the family home in Montreal when Louise and I were in primary school. It was always exciting to see whether I could tell Mary and Catherine apart. I used personality as my indicator though I don't know how successful I was as I am not sure they always told me whether I got it right. Perhaps they liked to fool people. In any case, I remember Mary as being so full of life and ready with a smile. It was always a pleasure to visit their house and listen to Mary and Catherine discuss some aspect of their lives.
I send my deepest condolences to the entire family who will find it hard to cope with Mary's sudden, unexpected passing. I hope that Louise and Catherine will be able to find some of Mary's good cheer within themselves to help them withstand the stunning shock an carry them through these trying times.

To Mary's family,
It was with profound sadness and shock that I learned about the sudden death of our neighbour Mary. Prior to my leaving the country in November we had the opportunity to have a brief chat while walking our dogs.
It was a great pleasure knowing Mary and we will miss seeing her on her daily walks
with Willie.
My sincere condolences to her family
