In Celebration of

Mary (Mimi) Pollock (nee Kinsella)

April 30, 1937 -  July 12, 2023

Mary (Mimi) Pollock (nee Kinsella) passed away at 86 years old surrounded by family on July 12th, 2023 after a long illness with ALS. Mimi bravely confronted her disease and her faith was a great comfort to her. Mimi was born in Ottawa on April 30th, 1937 to the late James Bernard Kinsella and Beatrice (nee Burnett) and had 5 siblings who predeceased her: Jack (Kay), Bill, Peggy (Bernie), Sr. Betty-Ann g.s.i.c., and Sr. Bernadette g.s.i.c. Mimi married her loving husband Sam Pollock who predeceased her, but she is survived by her children Mary (Darren), Sam (Krista), and Rachel (Andrew), grandchildren James, Sam, Katherine (Randy), Emma, William, Elizabeth, Drew, Emily, Sophie and greatgrandchildren Chiara and Neve, and her loyal companion Keela. Mimi grew up in Ottawa and graduated from the University of Ottawa for which she was awarded the gold medal in medical nursing, awarded to the student ranking highest in Nursing Practice, and merited in the surgery prize. Prior to marrying Sam she practiced nursing in Ontario and New York. Upon marrying Sam she moved to Montreal and supported him in his long career in sports. Mimi loved their time spent traveling together and most especially time spent in North Hatley. Mimi will be remembered for the tireless hours she spent volunteering for a number of charities including Festival Massawippi, and anonymously and selflessly helping others in various communities in Canada and around the world. The latter part of her life was spent in Toronto and she is forever grateful to her friends at Holy Rosary, especially Father Peter, Colette and Terry. The family would like to thank her dear lifelong friends, Caroline and Noëlla, for their friendship and support throughout the years. The family also thanks all the caregivers who provided such loving comfort, including most recently, Ailyn, Mae, Elizabeth, Gerald, Jen, Anne and Danielle. Mimi will return to her beloved North Hatley to be buried at Ste Elisabeth Cemetery on July 25th, 2023 at 11:00am; however a Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Parish at 354 St. Clair Ave W in Toronto on July 22, 2023 at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations to ALS Research at donations@als.ca or the charity of your choice in memory of Mimi Pollock would be appreciated.

Mimi was strong, warm and wise. Her deep faith anchored her and nothing made her happier than her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a full life. I will remember her easy laugh, her sense of humour and her focus on family, faith and service. She was loved by all. My heartfelt condolences.
