Mary Kovalcik

November 1, 1930 -  October 4, 2025

We are saddened to announce the passing of Mary on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

Mary is predeceased by her husband John, her parents Michael and Anne, and her brother John.

She was the loving mother of Mary and John (Alison), and adored her two grandchildren, Katherine and Michael.

Mary came to this country as a young woman and was immediately welcomed into an amazing community which helped ease the transition to her new home. Her dedication to family and the Slovak community continued throughout her life.

With the support of family, Mary soon ventured into the workplace. Her working career spanned many years, and she was grateful for the opportunities available to her. She would never wish to miss a day of work.
Mary's work ethic was admired by her family and her many special friends.

Her natural skills and dexterity also provided for many hours of joy and creativity within the church craft group.

Her memories may have faded over the years, but the experiences she shared with others will outlast a lifetime.

She was loved and will be missed. She will always be admired for her warm heart, joyful smile, and good spirit.

Dear Mary and John:

Please accept Sylvia and my sincere condolences on the passing of your mother. We certainly know the difficulties that your family has experienced over the last few years with your mother in care, as we have shared these difficulties with my own mother. However, we have many decades of memories with our mothers to cherish for ever, and can be grateful for the lives that gave us.

Yours truly, Lou

Dear Mary, John and family
Please accept our deepest sympathy and condolences over the loss of your beloved mom. Vičnaja jej pamjať - Eternal memory.
I have so many wonderful memories of your parents as well as the two of you when we first arrived in Canada. Your father, with his huge Impala, would come to my baba’s place and pick us up to take us to your place for a Sunday afternoon! Your parents were the only ones who always kept in touch and made sure we felt like we belonged! I have many pictures from BBQ’s in your backyard at Kingsview. It may have seemed like a burden to you to be saddled with us but to us, you and your family were a godsend. For that, I am eternally grateful to all of you.
Now, as you lay your mom to rest, you can be proud of the good that she and your dad left behind.
Cherish the memories and keep them in your heart.
Mary and Nicholas Snell and my brother Peter Siroky.
When I mentioned to Peter that your mom passed away, his first remark was: “didn’t Mary drive that sports car? Barracuda or was is it a charger????”Most people remember faces, my brother remembers cars.
