Passed away peacefully at Trillium Health Partners – Mississauga on April 17, 2018, in her 92nd year, shortly after suffering a stroke. Beloved wife of the late Walter Kallis. Devoted mother of Brian, Joan (Greg) Dowell, and proud grandmother of Andrea, Brett (Amanda), and Jonathan. Adored sister of the late Olga. She will be missed by her loving brother Mike, her wonderful nieces, nephews, their families, and her dear friends.
Mary’s life centered around her family. She was tremendously patient and always saw the good in others. She was happiest when she was singing, dancing, and attending concerts with family and friends. Mary valued her rich traditions and Ukrainian culture that she passed on to her family.
Visitation will be held at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas Street W. Etobicoke (between Islington and Kipling Ave.) on Monday, April 23rd from 4-7pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at 11 am on Tuesday April 24th. Burial to follow at Park Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to Trillium Health Partners, Heart & Stroke Foundation, CNIB, The National Shevchenko Musical Ensemble or AUUC Cultural Centre. I will always remember Aunt Mary for her laughter, singing, positive attitude, her proud Ukrainian heritage, food, & birthday parties when all the cousins were kids at the beautiful house they lived in on Ravensbourne. I cherish the summer I spent working with her in the law firm she worked at. On behalf of my family, & my Dad (her brother Michael), you will be missed. Rest in peace.
