In Celebration of

Mary Janice Murnaghan

September 26, 1932 -  September 26, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Janice (Jan) Murnaghan announces her passing on September 26th 2023 in Leamington Ontario.

Predeceased by her husband Steve (2018), daughter Jane (2018), and grandson Stephen Jay (1987). Predeceased also by her parents Ervin and Mary Edna Williams and her siblings Ervin, David, Barbara, Betty and Marion. She is survived by her children Beth (Jim Stein), Mike (Liz), and Jim (Sharon) as well as her grandchildren Eric, Jessica, Riley, Haley, Becky, Matthew and Marnie and great grandchildren Pascale, Felix and Daisy and her sister Lucille DeWolfe.

Jan was born September 26th 1932 in St. John, New Brunswick where she met and married Steve, the love of her life in 1953, then moving to Toronto where they raised their family. The door to their home was always open. She and Dad had many travel adventures together including a trip or two to the casino, visiting family in Canada, cruising as well as travelling abroad. Lifelong extended family friends were made, including Dr. Paul Byrne (Janet), Eamon Carbery (Debora), and Ena Mulligan. She loved and will be missed by all of her nieces and nephews.

In her high school days mom played basketball and became quite an avid bowler, playing in a league at Jane Park Plaza in Toronto. Mom was a long time member of Our Lady of Victory CWL, worked at the Our Lady of Victory Credit Union as well and had many talents and skills including, sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking, card and bingo playing and her beautiful outstanding calligraphy. Mom was a strong and very determined woman. If you needed something or needed something done and she was able ... she was your person.

Thank you to the staff at Revera The Beechwood in Mississauga where she resided from June 2018 until December 2020. Special thanks to Erie Shores Health Care and Erie Shores Hospice for their kind and respectful care of Mom until the very end of her journey.

*** The Murnaghan family will be forever grateful to the Team at the Meadows of Wheatley Retirement Home, for their love and outstanding support of our Mom and us ***
