It is with sadness that we mourn our dear mother, Mary Dolores Quinlan (Bourrie), who passed away peacefully with family at her side at the Dorothy Ley Hospice in Toronto on October 4 th , 2024. She was 90 years old.

She was born on December 25, 1933 and spent her childhood years in Midland Ontario. She lived most of her life in Toronto and Mississauga with the exception of 25 years spent in Montreal. She was married to husbands Jack Quinlan and David Sparkes and is survived by David, her sons Ted Quinlan (Sandy) and Tim Quinlan (Helen), and grandsons Ryan Quinlan (Meaghan) and Brendan Quinlan (Sajana). She also leaves to mourn David’s sons John (Rachael)and Steven (Mary), grandsons Michael (Nicki) and Jamie, and great-grandson Lucas.

Our mother was a warm, engaging, intelligent woman who navigated the world with grace and style. Her accomplishments include her working years, first with the City of Pierrefonds and later as an executive administrative assistant with Menasco Aerospace, her newspaper column. Just Asking, for the North Shore News in Montreal, being a frequent game show contestant on CFCF Channel 12 TV, and her long involvement with The Catholic Women’s League where she served on the National Executive Council and was a Life Member.

In more recent years she enjoyed an active lifestyle with her husband David including lawn bowling and winters spent in Florida. She was heavily involved in seniors’ activities and was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal for community involvement.

Our mother had a large reach and touched many people in her life. We will miss her deeply.

I will miss Mary's presence.
She guided us thru our Policy Manual and assisted us in many aspects of our CWL. Council which us now the largest in the Toronto Archdiocese.
She was a kind and thoughtful friend and measured in her response.
Condolences to her family.
What is saved in memory is never forgotten.
May she rest in Eternal Peace with God, her Saviour.

I have known Mary since I was 16. My mother Evelyn Arless was Montreal Diocesan President when Mary was the founding President of Mary Queen of Peace in Dollard des Ormeaux. Quebec. We both loved National Conventions and would touch base before hand. I shared a lovely time with Mary in New Brunswick last year, and Mary would have been my dinner partner at the Life Member luncheon in Saskatoon. I missed her and wrote to her as soon as I got home. What a wonderful. smart, classy, hardworking woman. The obituary says it all. My sincere sympathy to all the family. Mary, rest in peace.

Mary used to scare me as our Sr. Administrative Secretary, you could not get to the President without Mary screening you first and she was tough! Ha Ha

Over the years we developed a friendship which I enjoyed. Classy, professional, to the Point but also warm and caring will be my memories. I will miss you Mary, you were a unique and strong woman whom I will not forget. 🥰🙏
