In Celebration of

Martha Prawecki

March 1, 1921 -  October 2, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Martha Prawecki on October 2nd at the age of 96. Predeceased by her husband Tadeusz, her grandson Alexander, and five brothers in France (Roland, Edziu, Kaziu, Wladek and Janek). Martha will be sadly missed by her son William (Lorrain), her daughter Mary (Dave), her granddaughter Jacqueline, and her great-grandson Logan. She will also be missed by her sisters, Stanis and Cecile as well as her sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends both here in Canada and in France. Martha was born to parents Pawel and Marianna Kos in Germany. Most of her childhood was spent in Poland and France before immigrating to Canada in 1951 with her husband and son. Settling in Toronto amongst many other Polish immigrants, family life continued with the birth of her daughter Mary. There were not enough hours in a day for Martha to recount all her childhood memories growing up in Poland and during the war in France. Once she got your ear you were hooked. Martha's memory was remarkable to the very end as was her ability to read, write and speak Polish, French and English. She will be fondly remembered as having lovely gardens in her Etobicoke home right up until last year, and for being an extremely generous person. Special thanks to the staff at Gateway Haven long term care facility and the Grey Bruce Health Services in Wiarton for all the care provided to Martha in her last few months. Although Martha loved all forms of flowers, she would also appreciate in lieu of flowers, a contribution to World Vision or a charity of your choice. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W. (East of the Jane subway) on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8:30 p.m., with prayers at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 12 Denison Ave., Toronto, on Tuesday, October 10th at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Park Lawn Cemetery.

Dear Bill, Lorrain and family

It is with sadness that we heard of your mother's passing. Although we had never met her, we got to know her through all your stories. She always sounded like such a wonderful soul.

We know she will be greatly missed, but remember to keep all your memories of her in your hearts.

Love from Elaine and Grayson
